Self-Awareness

Hey, ya’ll! I hope you’ve been having a great week! It is Friday eve, and the weekend is almost here. Remember to stay positive in whatever you’re doing and enjoy the rest of your week!

Today, I’m going to be writing a quick, short blurb on self-awareness. I have written a few blogs now on how we can better ourselves and strive for greatness. These skills and techniques are great when we realize we need them! Realizing that, though, takes some level of being self-aware. Self-awareness is the first step to bettering ourselves and living our best life. You can’t change your habits or lifestyle if you aren’t aware of a need for change.

In my life-coaching course I heard this great and humorous quote, “People aren’t jerks because they choose/want to be.” People are jerks because they aren’t aware they are being a jerk. We are all unaware of some of our attributes. I become self-aware of new qualities almost daily. Becoming aware of those qualities allows me to internalize and consider if it’s a healthy or toxic quality. Is it something that’s helping me become the best version of myself? Do I need to change that quality to be better?

Are you a negative Nancy? Maybe the language you speak uses a lot of negative words/phrases, but you haven’t been aware of it. Other people are a great place to help you become more aware of yourself. Coworkers, family, and friends hear your language daily. You can ask these people if they notice you being more negative than positive with your language. (If you do ask for their opinions, please realize that you will get the truth and therefore you do need to be ready for that truth. Don’t be upset if it’s not what you want to hear.) Also, you can take time in your day to be reflective on what you’re saying or doing. Being self-aware leads to self-regulation. Becoming the best version of yourself will start to get easier once you’ve started reflecting on your habits, language, and thoughts.

To end my post today, I am going to do a quick Find the Positive with all of you! 1. I found a new gym to start going to! I recently moved and wasn’t sure where to go, but thanks to a recommendation from a friend I’ve found a good, inexpensive one! 2. My puppy slept in until 8 this morning! This is super simple, but I was really needing to find a positive about my puppy. I love her and she is incredible, but it has been a lot of work training her recently. 3. I have been blessed with amazing friends! I’ve been able to spend a lot of time recently with great people who push me to keep striving to be the best version of myself. I am so grateful for them!

Alright, now it’s your turn! Please leave a FTP in the comments! I look forward to reading them and smiling because of all the positive things going on in your lives! Have a great rest of the week and if you ever need anything feel free to comment or email me! Please share and follow!

    1. It’s great to have someone agree, thank you! It can really be the difference in actually bettering ourselves or not growing at all.
